Fine Country House and charming Steading cottage available for self catering holidays
A large and elegant country house set amidst hundreds of acres of farmland on the edge of the beautiful and historic village of Falkland in Fife. The house was built as a manse in 1806 for the Rev. George Buist, and designed by a famous architect, Thomas Barclay. This Georgian home was formerly home to Frances Shand Kydd, and has been visited by Diana, Princess of Wales, and her sons, the Princes William and Harry.
Falkland is in Central Fife, within 40 minutes of Edinburgh, St Andrews, Perth and Dundee, and within 30 miles of more than 50 golf courses. The nearest railway station is at Markinch, only 7 minutes away, and Dundee and Edinburgh airports are within 40 minutes drive. Buses run to Falkland, and the nearest bus stop is 5 minutes walk away.
Ideal for large families and groups, the house sleeps up to 12 adults and 2 children in 6 bedrooms; there are 3 en-suite rooms, and 2 family bathrooms, and a downstairs loo. There is a dining kitchen with AGA, a light and airy conservatory, a comfortable Drawing Room with dual aspect and open fire, a tv room, and a Dining Room to seat 14.
There is plenty of outdoor space, with a sunny terrace, south and west facing, an acre of walled garden with trampoline and swings for the kids. We have a hot-tub hirer locally and we can arrange a hot tub for the duration of your stay. Please let us have your requirements and we will provide a quote.

The Steading cottage, Ladywell....
We have now added The Steading, a self-catering cottage, to our letting properties. The Steading was built in 1809, converted in 1992 and now refurbished to form a comfortable 3 bedroomed cottage with 2 bathrooms. The cottage has recently undergone a full upgrade and is now ready!. There is a large kitchen/diner with access to the patio and garden which is south-facing and private. It looks over East Lomond and is a sun-trap! There is a bright and spacious sitting room with 2 sets of french doors accessing a large patio. 2 double rooms, one large with en-suite bathroom with bath and shower over, and another double, and a smaller room with bunk beds. A large family bathroom with huge walk-in rainfall shower.
Combined, Ladywell House and the Steading cottage provide space for up to 20 guests, and are ideal for large groups.
